We handed over DNI + empadronamiento, the board discussed it at their weekly junta and within ten days we had an answer. Not every asociación is like this, but if you have someone to introduce you and your documents are tidy, it can move along. Also they scheduled a short orientation and explained the monthly allocation rules. If the junta meets weekly and your paperwork is perfect they will usually process faster.
