Coffeeshop rules for tourists in Amsterdam now?

Heading to Amsterdam next month and trying to sort out whether I can walk into a coffeeshop as a tourist. Some guides say ID only, others mention local residency checks in certain cities — does Amsterdam still welcome tourists at shops? Any recent experiences at the Amsterdam clubs (not naming them here) about needing proof of address or extra questions? Also: is there still a difference between downtown and neighbourhood shops when it comes to non-residents?

À Maastricht ou in smaller towns it's different.

I was in Amsterdam last week — city centre shops were fine with passport, no residency asked. A friend got asked about hotel name once (just casual), nothing official. If you go to smaller towns like Leeuwarden or some border places they might be stricter. Bring ID and be chill, that's my tip.

Also ja, downtown okay, Randbezirke eher nervöser.
