FYI: shorter waiting list at Frankfurt association

Hey — quick tip for anyone signing up in Hesse: I checked a couple of Anbauvereinigungen in Frankfurt and one had a noticeably shorter waiting list than the others (called them and they quoted ~2 weeks instead of months). Not saying that’s always true, but if you're stuck on a very long Warteliste try calling different Vereinsbüros — sometimes someone cancelled and they can move you up. Remember: in Germany you'll fill an Aufnahmeantrag and need Personalausweis + Wohnsitznachweis.

Good to know — I’m on a Warteliste in Düsseldorf and have been calling different Vereine like you said. Didn’t think to check Frankfurt properly, might give them a ring next week.

Yep, calling helps. Also note most clubs are capped at 500 members — that explains why some lists are long. Bring your Wohnsitznachweis when you go.

I called a Verein in Frankfurt last month and they answered quickly by phone. In my case email was slower. So phone first, then follow up with the Aufnahmeantrag by post or PDF.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was told in Leipzig they also sometimes shorten lists when people move away — some luck involved.

Calling different offices really helped me months ago. Also keep a scanned copy of your ID + Wohnsitznachweis ready — speeds things up when they ask.
