Totally — weekends get mad there. I usually go early afternoon (around 1pm) and it's way calmer. One thing: ask about smaller jars, sometimes they have fresh stuff in the back that isn't on the front chalkboard. Short wait then, and staff will show you.

J'y étais en octobre, même impression — sympa mais un peu surcoté. Le service est poli mais rapide, pas l'endroit pour traîner des heures imo. Par contre l'ambiance canal le rend agréable si tu veux juste flâner ensuite.

Ja, Amsterdam is gewoon druk. If you want less queue try one of the shops a few streets inland (not the tourist strip) — prices drop a bit and staff actually have time to recommend something.

Same experience here last month. The pre-roll you mentioned was probably their daily batch — decent for a quick smoke but nothing special. If anyone's into edibles nearby, there's a bakery two blocks over that sometimes stocks little brownies (ask quietly).

Good point about timing — I found late morning to be the sweetest spot. Also the place sometimes runs out by 5pm so if you want variety go earlier. Minor tip: bring cash, some of the smaller places still prefer it.

This is exactly why I avoid the canal strip on weekends. one sentence: go during the weekday and you'll thank me lol
