Barcelona or Girona for joining an asociación? thinking out loud

I'm tossing up between signing up to an asociación in Barcelona (more options, easier to find someone to introduce me) or trying Girona (smaller, maybe friendlier). I work remote so travel isn't an issue, but empadronamiento and who can introduce me are real constraints. Barcelona feels faster because there are more clubs and more members who could present you, but Girona seems like it might be more community-oriented. Not asking for definitive answers, just curious about personal pros/cons — anyone chosen one over the other recently?

Jo, si pots aconseguir algú que et presentí a Girona, es molt agradable. Menys trànsit, més tranquiltat i la gent de les associacions acostuma a ser més local. Però és cert que a Barcelona hi ha més opcions si necessites canviar d'associació.

If you value variety and quick introductions, Barcelona wins. If you want a smaller community feel and maybe better chances to meet the same members regularly, Girona is nice. For empadronamiento: both will check it, but in Girona they might ask more questions about local residence.

En Barcelona encontrarás más probabilidades de que un amigo de un amigo te presente, yes. In Girona it's more about showing up at local events (if they have them) and meeting people organically.

Longer take: if you're new to the scene and want faster acceptance, Barcelona because of scale. If you already know a couple of locals and prefer quieter community vibes, Girona. Also think about transport: Barcelona has late trains and more frequent services if you plan to go sometimes only in the evenings.
