Membership processes vary by club and country. In Spain, you typically need to be introduced by an existing member or through a verified introduction service, show proof of age (18+), and provide ID. In Germany under the KCanG, formal membership registration with the club is required. Our introduction service simplifies this for visitors by notifying compatible tourist-friendly clubs ahead of your planned visit.
What ID is accepted for age verification?
Most venues accept any valid government-issued photo ID showing your date of birth: a passport, national identity card, or driver's licence are universally recognised. Expired documents are typically not accepted. Always carry your original document — digital copies or phone screenshots may not be accepted by all venues.
What is the minimum age to visit a cannabis social club?
The minimum age is 18 in all countries currently covered by Cannabivo — Spain, Germany, Malta, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Uruguay. There are no exceptions, and ID is checked at every venue. Under-18s are not admitted under any circumstances.
What are typical membership fees at a cannabis social club?
Annual membership fees at Spanish cannabis social clubs typically range from €20 to €100 or more depending on the club and membership tier. German CSCs operate under KCanG non-profit requirements with their own fee structures. Dutch coffee shops do not charge membership fees — you purchase cannabis at posted prices. Do clubs accept walk-in visitors without prior membership?
Generally no for CSCs — these are private member associations. However, clubs marked as tourist-friendly on Cannabivo have indicated they are open to welcoming new visitors through a proper introduction process. Using Cannabivo's introduction service means we contact the club on your behalf before your visit, effectively bridging the introduction gap. Entry remains at the club's discretion.
Do digital or electronic ID documents work at clubs?
Most clubs require a physical government-issued document. Digital ID apps vary widely by country and club policy — some clubs accept them, many do not. To avoid being turned away, always carry your physical passport or national identity card. Clubs bear legal responsibility for verifying the identity and age of their members, so they tend to be conservative about what they accept.
What happens if a club refuses my entry?
Clubs have the right to refuse entry at their discretion, even to people who have completed the introduction process. Common reasons include not bringing valid ID, appearing intoxicated on arrival, breaching club rules on a previous visit, or the club being at capacity.
