Barcelona or Hospitalet — thinking which asociación to join

Okay, thinking out loud: I can choose between a few asociaciones in Barcelona proper or one in L'Hospitalet (closer to my flat). Barcelona clubs sound livelier but also more picky about introductions; L'Hospitalet seems smaller, maybe easier to get into. Not asking for definitive answers, just wondering about everyday stuff — travel time, how strict they are about empadronamiento copies, whether orientation meetings are friendlier in smaller towns. Any real members from Barcelona or Hospitalet who can share short pros/cons?

En general: los clubes en L'Hospitalet suelen ser más pequeños y menos formales, sí. Pero depende del club: algunos en Barcelona también son tranquilos, todo cuestión de estatutos y gente.

A small note: if it's about convenience, L'Hospitalet will save you commute time. The orientation was chill when I joined a small asociación — two coffees and a quick run-through, no drama.

That’s true in my experience. I joined in Barcelona and it felt structured — they check empadronamiento closely and the orientation is more formal. Smaller towns around the city are friendlier but might have less selection if you're interested in variety. If I had to choose again I’d pick convenience over perceived prestige.

If you care about quick access, smaller asociaciones sometimes let you collect allocations faster because fewer members fight for the same pool. But check their statutes about frequency of distribution.

Also consider that addresses and privacy matter — some prefer smaller clubs because they feel less exposed. Don’t forget to ask how they handle guests, if you’ll have friends over sometimes.

Short personal: joined a Barcelona asociación and it was worth it for the community events. But if your priority is convenience and fast onboarding, L'Hospitalet is a solid pick. You can always switch later.
