Amsterdam vs kleinere steden: meer variatie buiten de grachtengordel

Ok, korte mening: ik vind dat coffeeshops in Amsterdam de laatste tijd minder verrassend zijn qua strains (te veel standaard lijnen). Laatst in Leeuwarden en Zutphen geweest — daar hadden ze oude landrassen en wat lokale cuts die ik nog nooit zag. Niet dat Amsterdam slecht is, maar toeristische shops gaan safe. Ben benieuwd of anderen dat ook merken — is het gewoon vraag en aanbod of zitten de grotere shops vast aan vaste suppliers?

I think Amsterdam shops have to balance tourists and regulars; that hurts variety. Smaller towns can cater to connoisseurs more easily.

Ik woon vlakbij Hoofddorp en daar wisselen ze vaak strains per seizoen. Misschien is het een kwestie van contact zoeken met de eigenaar en vragen welke nichestocks ze kunnen bestellen.

Bij mij in Amsterdam (niet toeristisch) zie ik wél afwisseling, maar het hangt echt per straat. Probeer eens een shop buiten centrum, vaak betere keus en rustiger personeel.

Misschien ook vraagprijs. Unieke cuts kosten meer en toeristische shops willen snelle omzet. In kleinere steden kun je nog ruilen of vragen voor specifieke jars.

Protip: als je echt speciale varietals zoekt, check lokale socials of vraag aan vaste klanten in de shop — die weten vaak welke batches bijzonder zijn.
