Coffeeshop De Rokerij Cannabis Social Club in Amsterdam

De Rokerij sits on a busy stretch near Leidseplein where theaters and bars spill out onto the pavement. It's a small, honest coffee shop with plain signage; you duck in between other late-night spots. Evenings get lively — street performers and groups heading to shows make the windows noisy, and that rubs off on the place. Days are quieter; locals pop in after errands or before a walk in Vondelpark or around the canals. I've popped in a few times; the staff are straightforward and you get honest recommendations if you ask. The crowd is mixed: students, tourists who know the area, and a few regulars who read the paper at the counter. It's not fancy — think practical seating and a well-worn counter — but that's part of the charm if you want something unfussy. If you're wandering the Leidseplein strip and need a low-key stop to people-watch or take a breather before a gig, this is where locals end up.
