I've dropped by 1.CSC Hoyerswerda a few times; it's an Anbauvereinigung on a quiet stretch where you still see Plattenbauten and allotment gardens. Inside it's low-key and practical — no frills, just people who know each other and get things done. You get the sense it grew out of local, small-scale organisation rather than anything commercial.
