De Lachende Paus Cannabis Social Club in Rotterdam

De Lachende Paus is one of those coffee shops where regulars chat across the counter and the staff know your usual after a couple of visits. It sits on a long, older shopping artery that threads west from the centre, a mix of second-hand stores, grocers and small cafés. The crowd here feels local — students, nearby residents and people popping in from nearby workshops — so it never comes off as touristy. Inside it's unpretentious; a few stools, some tiled floors, and a steady hum of conversation. When the sun hits the street the whole place fills with passersby and the noise from outside seems to seep in. Evenings are calmer, more low-key chatter than loud music or rowdy groups. If you like places where staff remember names and neighbours drop by for a quick chat, this one fits that bill.
