Coffeeshop The Balboa Family Cannabis Social Club in Amsterdam

Down a narrow lane in central Amsterdam, the Balboa Family coffee shop feels like the sort of place you duck into after a long walk. It sits among the tangle of small streets and canals, so you get a mix of tourists and locals passing through. The bustle outside—bikes, shoppers, street chatter—keeps things lively without ever feeling chaotic. Afternoons are the busiest, with people dropping in between museum stops and canal-side wandering; evenings quiet down. You won’t find flashy décor here, just a straightforward spot where things move at a relaxed pace. Conversations drift easily, the kind you overhear when you’re not trying to eavesdrop. Handy if you’re popping in from nearby bookstores or galleries, or just need a no-fuss pause from the tourist route. It’s the sort of place you end up back at more than once on a single trip.
